Negro was a brilliant performer living up to the standard set by the sport horses behind him. At his Stallion Performance Test in 1998 he was Reserve Champion overall and was described as an "honest, reliable stallion that really likes to go. The walk is big and powerful, his trot has a lot of impulsion, and he has a scopey, powerful canter." Negro's canter was awarded an exceptionally high 8.5 and his jumping ability also impressed with no score less than 7.5 for jumping.

As a 5 & 6 year old, Negro won the Stallion Show competitions in Holland in a highly convincing fashion. He was the highest placed Dutch horse at the 2001 FEI World Championships for Young Horses. By age seven he was a strong performer at Prix St. Georges with scores over 70% and Negro debuted at Grand Prix with a score of 74% the following year. The piaffe and passage were especially easy exercises for Negro and Anne van Olst still calls Negro "the best horse I have ever ridden."

Negro's sire, Olympic Ferro, has been one of the most successful international dressage stallions in history. With rider Coby Van Baalen, Ferro captured the Team Silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, 1999 European Championships, and 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Ferro has also been a prolific breeder and has earned the "Preferant" title for the KWPN. His offspring are known for their powerful hindquarters and ability to collect and find favor with both dressage and jumper riders. Ulft, Le Mexico, and Farn are all cornerstones to Dutch jumper breeding programs and highlight the versatility behind Negro.

Negro's dam, the Keur mare Fewrie, is by the successful international dressage stallion Variant and the highly decorated Keur Preferante Prestatie mare Mewrie. Mewrie was successful in national level showjumping, not surprising as her sire Gondelier was an international showjumper. The talent for sport and the willingness to work are deeply rooted in Negro's pedigree.

No matter how well-bred or how successful a stallion himself may be, he will ultimately be judged by the quality of his offspring. Negro's official foal report from the KWPN noted that his progeny "show ample walks and powerful, impressive canters. They hold themselves well in trot and show good balance, elevation, and remarkable self-carriage."

As his offspring matured, they only became more impressive and his correctness, athleticism, and brilliance consistently transmit through. The KWPN awarded Negro Preferant status in early 2012 due to his exceptional offspring. While Negro offspring are competing successfully in jumpers and eventing, it is not surprising that it is the dressage arena where they dominate. One of Danish Olympian Anne van Olst's favorite horses to compete is Taikoen. Carl Hester has ridden many Negro offspring over the years and likes them so much he has a couple in his stable he is currently developing.

Valegro (ds. Gershwin) won the 2012 Team and Individual Gold Medals at the Olympics, the 2013 European Championships, and the 2014 World Equestrian Games with scores as high as 92%. In the US, Unico G was the 2013 USDF National Champion for Grand Prix Freestyle. Enzo, Vancouver, and Wycliff all competed at the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I levels in 2014 and Natasha (ds. Donnerhall) was the USDF Region 7 Prix St. Georges Open Reserve Champion & Intermediaire 1 Open Reserve Champion. Nintendo qualified for the US Grand Prix Championships and World Equestrian Games Selection Trials.

The young Negro offspring also impress. Got Rhythum (Negro - Donnerhall) was Champion Yearling for the KWPN-NA in 2012 and the full siblings Hierro and Ilana (Negro - Flemmingh) finished in the Top Five for the KWPN-NA Dressage Foals in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The uniformity of type, uphill balance, and powerful gaits comes through strongly in Negro's offspring as well as his intelligence and enthusiasm for work. He consistently produces horses with all the qualities needed to excel in the FEI dressage arena and their character often makes them a favorite of their riders.
